===== StudyCrafter Layout Tab ===== The Layout Tab is where you can edit your scene. You can put characters or assets in the scene, and change their sizes, positions, and orientiations. Everything you change will be displayed in real-time: What you see in the Layout Tab is what you will get when your StudyCrafter game is played. ==== 1. Scene Preview ==== This section of the screen is where you place and directly edit your assets and characters. The image below shows an example of a character being placed. Characters and assets can be moved by clicking and dragging them around the scene. Clicking and dragging any of the yellow boxes in the outline allows you to resize an asset or character. Clicking and dragging the yellow ball allows you to rotate the orientation of an asset or character. ==== 2. Assets & Characters Button ===== Click these two buttons to switch between 'showing assets' and 'showing characters'. ==== 3. Search Bar ==== You can search for particular assets or characters by entering their names here. StudyCrafter will restrict the assets or characters it shows to only those that match the name you entered. ==== 4. Assets & Characters ==== You can select the assets or characters you want to use from this area. Click the tile of the asset or character you want to use to add it to your current scene. ==== 5. Page Number ==== Each asset or character page shows a maximum of twelve tiles. Click the number below the Asset & Character Area to switch to other pages. ==== 6. Zoom in & Zoom out ==== Click the "+" button to zoom in on the scene and the "-" button to zoom out. ==== 7. Layers ==== Click this button to show the Layers tab. The tab is shown in the image below. If the Layers tab is already shown, clicking the button again will hide it. From the Layers tab, the following functions can be accessed: === 1. Flip Horizontal === Flip the currently-selected character or asset horizontally. === 2. Flip Vertical === Flip the currently-selected character or asset vertically. === 3. Rotate 90° === Rotate the currently-selected character or asset 90 degrees clockwise. === 4. Rotate 180° === Rotate the currently-selected character or asset 180 degrees. === 5. Move Backward === Move the currently-selected character or asset one step back in the viewing order. **Note:** When two or more characters/assets overlap, the character lowest in the viewing order will be shown. === 6. Move to Back === Move the currently-selected character or asset as far back in the viewing order as possible. === 7. Move Forward === Move the currently-selected character or asset one step forward in the viewing order. === 8. Move to Front === Move the currently-selected character or asset as far forward in the viewing order as possible. === 9. Lock Button === 'Lock' the currently-selected character or asset for editing. As long as the character or asset is locked, it cannot be edited in any way: e.g. position, size, and orientation cannot be changed. If the character or asset is already locked, clicking the button again will 'unlock' it, making it available for editing again. === 10. Edit Assets Variables === This space shows the character or asset's attributes as numerical variables, e.g. x- and y-position. By clicking on the numbers, you can directly edit these variables. This may have results for the visual appearance or position of the asset/character: For instance, if you edit //posx//, the character will move to a new horizontal position on-screen. ==== 8. Report Bug ==== If you encounter any bugs while using StudyCrafter, click the Report Bug button to let us know. The bug report window is shown below. ==== 9. Hide & Expand Button ==== You can click this arrow button to hide the Assets & Character tab. If it is already hidden, click this button again to expand it. ==== 10. Research Button ==== Click the Research Button to enter the Research Tab. ==== 11. Scriptor Button ==== Click the Scriptor Button to enter the Scriptor Tab. ==== 12. Play Button ==== Click the Play Button to play your game from the selected scene. **Note:** If your game is not designed to be started from this scene, this may cause some anomalous effects. ==== 13. Back to Project ==== Click this button to go back to the Projects Screen.
